The PDR mentions a maintenance dose of Diflucan in certain infections.
This would seem to me to indicate, if used carefully, it can be given
longer than 14 days.  Liver problems appear to  be rare, but mom's liver
could be monitored with blood studies.
Hale 98-99 M&MM has a very complete 4 page article on fluconazole
