I was struck by obstetrician Michele Odent's comments that a mother allowed
to birth in a squat and "do her own thing" tends to sit hunched over the
newly delivered infant in her arms.  He says mom-on-back-and-baby-on-belly
is the worst thing for maternal bleeding, and the hunched forward position
reduces uterine bleeding.  In my short-torsoed body, this position would
put baby and not-yet-detached placenta about on the same level, tho baby is
still slightly higher.  Is that close enough?
