<< Logically (maybe) I would figure food poisoning is happening in mom's gut
and other than the prospect of mom's getting dehydrated and feeling
wretched, it should have no bearing on what is in mom's breastmilk. So why
wean or pump and dump? Add it to the list of reasons to stop BF. I loved
the 2 yesterday, one was SO wrong I think it would be actionable. >>
Personal experience here: I had food poisoning twice while bf. Neither time
did my baby have any trouble (once pretty young, about 3 mos).
However, both times I had *substantial* drops in otherwise plentiful milk
supplies.
So on the contrary, rather than advise pumping and dumping I'd say to moms,
Get that baby to the breast as often as you think you can physically manage
it, or as soon again after the first wave of horribleness passes off as you
can.
