Thanks to everyone who responded with such support of my "quest" to become
IBCLC. I was posed an interesting question today and am wondering if there is
any information or documentation on the possible benefits of bf during early
pregnancy for someone who experienced hyperemesis during the first pregnancy.
Are there hormonal benefits that might counteract the severity? The child who
is nursing is almost 10 months old, and will be even older when the mother
conceives. If there is a relationship, we could utilize it as a benefit of
tandem nursing! If there is no benefit, are there successful alternatives. I
have read about herbel remedies, but of course the mom would be concerned
about safety to nursing child. the hyperemesis was so severe as to keep this
family to one child if there is no remedy.
thanks again for all the warm pats on the back,
Susan Wittner, RN, BSN, LLL (if the alphabet soup gets any bigger, I'll need a
new name tag)
