I tried to look in the archives as I'm sure this topic is there, but
it's too busy to use and I really need some advice.

One of the women I'll be talking with re: bf is a smoker.  She is
pregnant and due in 9 days.  My home visitor told me that she wants to
nurse this baby and she supported that.  It was my understanding that if
she is smoking she should not nurse the baby.  She wants to use the
nicotine patch but was told she can't while nursing.  I'd really like to
see this mom nurse, but can't recommend it with a clear conscience if
it's not the right thing to do.

Again, please reply privately if this has been discussed repeatedly....I
wish I could get into the archives!  sigh.....
