Hello all! I have been presented with a wonderful opportunity to regarding
Babywise. I have returned to nursing school for my BSN (what was I
thinking!!), and during my psychology class we were discussing Erikson's
theory of Trust vs. Mistrust in newborns. I'm sure you all can guess what
popped into my mind! After class I asked my professor if she was aware of a
certain book; she wasn't, so we discussed it at length. Before I knew it,
she made arrangements with the library for me to do an extra credit project.
This will consist of a huge display in one of the library's glass cases.
(Basically, she wants me to discredit this book.) The main focus is to be
from a psychological perspective. I plan to take certain excerpts from the
book and show why they are psychologially harmful to babies. (ex. leaving
a baby alone in his room and not responding to a newborns cries.)
If anyone has any suggestions, I would welcome them. I'm excited by this
opportunity and somewhat overwhelmed! Also, I need to buy this book, but
I'm happy to say I can't find it anywhere in my town! If anyone has the
book and would be interested in selling it, I would be happy to buy it. (I
hate the thought of buying it in a bookstore. Don't want them to get credit
for another sale!)
I found out in last weekend's childbirth class that there is a school
psychologist here in this town that promotes this book rather strongly.
(Plan to send her one of Dr. Aney's packets!)
Thanks for your help.
