I have to agree with Joanne that a little litigation might make these
nurses think twice. I've known women who even taped things on the
bassinet--no bottles, pacifiers, etc and still the babies were given
bottles. I've always had the sneaking suspicion that my first son (born
in hosp. after transfer from a freestanding birth center) was given a
bottle during the night. I was absolutely exhausted and sent him to the
nursery and was told in the morning he never woke up until I asked for
him. We were also separated for four hours after birth--they were
bathing him and keeping him warm, etc. I didn't know better. Second son
was born in the birth center and was never apart from me.
