<< I did notice that none of their patients got epidural
demerol. Maybe someone should look into what is in the epidural (drug) as
the cause of problems. All those drugs have different absorption ratios,
etc. They also didn't mention length of time the mom/baby had the epidural
in, which would effect amount of drug absorbed by baby. Until I see better
data, I'll keep a skeptical eye out.

Major flaw here, not noting how long the mom had the epidural OR how many
boluses she received. IMHO, it does make a difference. Why do some babies --
generally second time babies not seem to be as affected as first time babies?
Generally because labor is shorter and the epidural is in a much shorter
period of time. Do I have a study to back this? Time frame? No, but my
clinical observation has shown me that in many cases it SEEMS to be when the
epidural is in place longer than 3 or 4 hours, or there have been two or three
boluses of the medication, then you seem to see the 'epidural' babies. Don't
know that I've ever seen an 'epidural' baby when a mom has a repeat C/Section
and she has the epidural just before the C/Section.

thoughts, anyone?
