Hello everyone:
My name is Kim Campbell and I greet you from Abbotsford (near Vancouver),
British Columbia - Canada. Kathleen A inspired me to go forth onto the "NET".
Thank you Kathleen! I have been overwhelmed with the info out there on LACTNET
- and it is doubtful that I will ever again enjoy any "spare" time now that I
am "netted".... I am looking forward to all the encounters yet to be experienced
through this forum.
I work full time as a Nurse Manager of a busy tertiary maternity unit in the
greater Vancouver area. My unit boasts a 97% breastfeeding rate at point of
birth - unfortunately, it is all downhill after that. I openned a
breastfeeding clinic 10 months ago and my two LCs ( 1.2FTE) provide coverage to
inpatients 7 days a week. My interests, after my two children, two dogs, cat
and partner, are the protection of normal birth (midwifery) and breastfeeding.
It is a shame that they both need protection. I am an IBCLC and a Master of
Nursing and Midwifery student at the University of Alberta - nearing
completion.... I am currently working on two seperate research questions 1.-
the relationship between epidural use in labour and early breastfeeding &, 2.
my Masters Thesis: the relationship between water immersion in labour and
women's perception of pain. I sign off anticipating great things from
LACTNET!!!
Cheers from Beautiful British Columbia,
Kim Campbell RN BScN MN(c) IBCLC
