Indulge me a family story that shows that what we do
supporting bf *does* make a difference...one baby at a
time.
Our oldest son (27) was never breastfed. He was our
first foster child, born of a drug-abusing teen,
neglected as an infant, adopted by us at nearly 5
years, and still suffers from a lack of attachment. He
and his wife of four years (who had never known anyone
who breastfed and who thought she could not nurture a
baby) came home for the holidays with their newborn
whom he had insisted she breastfeed.
When I asked about his insistence, he said, "Well, when
you grow up in a home with a living room full of
breastfeeding mothers (I'm a LLLLeader), it just seems
NORMAL." (emphasis mine)
And isn't that our goal??

p.s. Our daughter-in-law is a wonderfully nurturing mom
to the most beautiful (IMHO) 2-month-old in the world!
