A mom of a 7-month-old has been told to wean because
(according to her doctor) breastfeeding is causing the
mom's symptoms of rheumatic fever to return. The mother
had sydeham chorea (St. Vitus dance) as a child and she
is now having these "seizures" again.
Baby was totally nursed for 6 months, is just beginning
to add solids, and both mom and baby have been thriving
(until now.)

I found nothing in the Lactnet archives. A general
search indicated this as a self-limiting condition of
childhood with no mention of a return of symptoms later
in life.

Reactions? Advice??
