I always liked the "sit on the floor in front of the couch, with pillows
etc." as a perfect position for the mom with a new baby and a toddler.
Toddler can play quietly by mom, snuggle,   nap, play, but will definitely
be happier because mom is on his/her level and accessible.  Sincerely, Pat
