One possibility in this situation...A friend of mine would put her daughter in
the high chair at meal time with toys after she could sit alone but too young
for solids. When it was time for the daughter to start solids she refused
them. She seemed to have difficulty with textures. The friend put off solids
but continued to sit the daughter in the high chair with toys at meals. The
daughter was well over a year old maybe 1.5 years and mom was getting
concerned about her child not eating solids. She finally figured out that the
daughter associated sitting in the high chair with playing with toys and not
eating. They bought her a booster seat like big brother sat in and most of
the food issues were gone. She is still somewhat of a picky eater but she at
least is eating solids.

Just a thought. Sometimes it is the simplest of solutions to that which we
seek answers for.

<< I had a call yesterday from a nurse on the "Feeding Team" at our local
Children's Resource Center (CRS) regarding a 17-month old child who
 refuses
to eat solids, and will only breastfeed. This child is receiving 5-6
 ounces of
pediasure per day in addition to "constant" breastfeeding. He will take
 no
solids, and is close to being hospitalized due to Failure to Thrive. >>
