<< Does anyone have any information about excessive weight gain? Has anyone
ever heard of weight gain causing a trachea shift to the right?  Has anyone
out there seen  this type of weight gain ? Causes or management of it? I would

Yes, babies can gain too much weight. It becomes especially concerning when
the gain occurs very rapidly.
Greater than 1 pound 8 ounces in 7 days can indicate: Oversupply syndrome,
improper feeding practices (too many solids, high calorie foods etc...)
Congestive heart failure, renal anomalies, and/or endocrine disorders

Other measurements are taken to evaluate for obesity.

Excessive weight gain with a tracheal shift to the right could indicate an
enlarged heart. With the wheezing, the doctor might be considering congestive
heart failure as a cause for the weight gain and not caloric intake.

If there is a cardiac anomolie, this baby needs to breastfeed even more than
the average tyke
