As a physician, I have noticed a recent and dramatic increase in "freebies"
from Ross lately - free meals, dinners and such. What disturbs me most is
that many these "free offers" are no longer routinely "disguised" as
"educational meetings" like in the past but are simply flagrant gifts. I
refuse to exercise these offers and/or I give them to my employees. I am
dealing with suppressed rage at formula companies - it urks me to no end when
my breastfeeding moms want to use the "free" formula that was mailed to their
doorstep. I equate that to someone being hospitalized, diagnosed with
diabetes, discharged from the hospital and then receiving a free box of candy
from some candy company. Inappropriate but awefully tempting, eh? How do the
formula companies get the addresses of newborns? From the hospital? From
"disguised" surveys/gifts?
