have been to reassure the mother  and point out to her how to know the baby
was actually getting milk (if the breastfeeding was going well), or fix the
breastfeeding so that the baby got milk. >>


  unfortunately few physician other than those on lactnet know how to do this
and fewer still will admit that they are not trained to do this and will refer
nursing dyads to someone who does know how... and compound this with a) the
parents just choose not to see the lactation specialist or b) as it is an out
of pocket expense, parent choose to "wait it out" " see if it will fix with
time" etc etc etc...
