Sounds like Australia and England and Zimbabwe (excuse my spelling) are the
places to be. I see SEVERE engorgement all the time! Moms leave the
hospital one day after birth, most never attend LLL or a breastfeeding
class, therefore, most give an occasional bottle because "he's not getting
anything", and let that good baby sleep for hours and hours, and these are
the moms going home breastfeeding. Of course, because the baby nursed ok in
the hospital, our poor overworked LCs breathed a sigh of relief and didn't
spend time educating the basics, so I hear from these moms at 3, 4, or 5
days postpartum. That's why so many moms don't make it breastfeeding past
the first week at home! This is the norm in my city, probably, also in most
of the USA.
Jacie in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where that season pass to the Santa Fe
ski area is going to waste!
