Heather, I have to disagree with you here. Non-nutritive suck does little to
stimulate or even maintain a milk supply. Stimulation is part of the system,
and removal of milk plays a bigger role. A baby who consistently feeds for
45 minutes or more may have a sucking problem. If this baby is not removing
milk, supply will DECREASE. In these situations, pumping may be needed to
keep supply up while the suck problem is being investigated and resolved.

If there is a question about milk supply, mom should NOT be using hormonal
contraceptives, period.
