Hi all Lactnetter,
Since Jack is not there I will dare putting my 2 cents in the discussion.
As usual, these animal research are using huge amounts compared to what we
would use in children.
I saw someone post that half of a 10 ml container would be used for a
treatment? did I get this right (about 5 ml for a treatment) or was it an
exageration to prove a point.

Regardless, I dont prescribe 10 ml of gentian violet. A little 5 cc
container is enough for a life time. I recommend that parents put 2DROPS
on a little dish and dip the swab in it. Then express all they can from
the swab before painting the baby's mouth with it. If the baby drools
purlple they are using too much. All they need is to paint the mouth of
the baby and the tongue (front). Using it that way, 1 time per day for 3
days, I have not yet had a baby burned by the gentian violet. And it is
very effective. Just thought I'd point that out. I know most of you know
but I would hate to see somone use GV like they use nystatin.

A survivor of nipple yeast!
