The New Jersey Poison Control Center was consulted twice in the last 6 months
about infants who developed methemoglobinemia which was unexplainable. The
common thread in these cases was the use of Isomil. St. Louis reported that
they had a cluster of 11 methemoglobinemia cases 3 years ago which had a
common factor of other soy-based formulas, at that time mostly Nursoy and some
Prosobee.
