I think that I will take exception with Dr. Hale's approach on this drug.  I
agree that it is rarely so important to put a mother on a cholesterol
reducing drug on an *urgent* basis (after all this mother is off it during
the pregnancy), and there is no harm in waiting.  Why not breastfeed for 6
months (six months of high cholesterol is not going to kill her).

The information in Hale, incidentally, suggests that fluvastatin would
appear in the milk in only tiny amounts.  The protein binding is high, the
oral bioavailability is low and the adult half life fairly short.  Breastfed
babies, in addition, have higher cholesterol levels than artificially fed
babies.  Nobody goes into a tizzy because the formula fed baby's cholesterol
is too low.
