Yes Deborah, these were my thoughts exactly when I watched this farce last
night. The messages were obvious untruths (read LIES) designed to frighten
and discourage parents away from breastfeeding. The reference to the "Baby
Friendly Hospital contract" should be enough to warrant some legal action.
No one has mentioned yet, the early scene of Diane (an MD) pumping her
breasts in the bathroom stall as being incongruous. Good Lord, the woman
has an office! I knew when I saw this how breastfeeding was going to be
portrayed, and I was sadly correct.
Please do not quote me, I do not have the information directly at hand, but
I have watched Chicago Hope off and on since it first started, and was
always cognizant of the fact that it was backed by the pharmaceutical
companies. Those of you that watch it, consider the shows you have seen,
and then look at them in this light. For example, last week's show had a
manic-depressive patient attempt suicide because his HMO would not allow
him to receive a certain medication. This approach has been pretty
consistant on this program, slam the HMOs for not letting Drs RX the meds
they think are best. I used to like that approach, now it has taken a very
nasty turn.
