A midwife friend of mine is working with a mom who has a baby with very bad
diaper rash and "tons" of poopy diapers. Preliminary blood work up has come
back positive for galactosemia.

Everything I can find published says baby must be weaned immediately to
Nutramigen or Isomil (Lawrence, 4th ed, Riordan & Auerbach 2nd ed., Merck
manual).

Is there anything more current that would give this mom some hope of
breastfeeding? She has nursed other children and practices attachment
parenting and will be devastated if she must wean.
