I have also considered starting a rental station in Northern Alberta,
but remain indecisive. I am concerned that with the unfamiliarity of
IBCLC's role by the medical community here [which I am working on daily]
they may interpret my renting a product as pressure on the client using
my status as an IBCLC.

This issue also came up with my liability insurance from a group of RN
lawyers who wagged their finger and stated " what if...she damaged her
breast using your product." You must take out extra liability insurance,
since your 3 million a year may not cover it.

I have approached the 3 pharmacies in the area, unfortunately they don't
feel there is a requirement. It would be very difficult for moms anyway,
since they charge $ 14.00 for a set of breast shells, I shudder to think
what the mark up on the pumps would be. I refer constantly to the LLL
for most of my breastfeeding needs and wonder if they are permitted to
set up a station?
