Fenofibrate is an fibrinic acid derivative that specifically reduces plasma
triglycerides. We have no data on its transfer into human milk, but due to a
99% protein binding, it is likely small.

It is well absorbed orally, and has a very long half-life > 20 hours.


However, morbidity studies with this drug show a greatly increased risk of
death, particularly from cancer and liver disease.

While I theoretically believe that the amounts in breastmilk may be low, the
significantly elevated risk of carcinogenesis in exposed individuals does
not make me comfortable in recommending its use in a breastfeeding mother.
