Thanks for the explanation, Heather. They sound very similar to child
health nurses in Australia. I guess the Australian system most likely was
modelled on the UK system, as many of our systems and institutions were. I
think this is a better system overall for monitoring mothers and babies
compared to the more medical-type system of paediatricians that seems to be
the norm in the USA. But then I haven't lived and had a baby in the USA to
really compare.
