I do not for a second believe that the baby's breathing was blocked by the
mother's breast.

There may be reasons for no rooming in.  But these should not be justified
as reasons for no rooming in for anyone.  A baby turning blue could be
easily missed in nurseries too.

It is true that many postpartum areas are poorly designed for breastfeeding
mothers and their families.  That's why part of Ross' "package" for
hospitals that buy into their contract, is architectural advice on designing
postpartum areas.
