Very well said, Pat!

If more people could see the difference in babies from unmedicated
births compared to babies from the"other" kind of births, then maybe
they'd think twice about the effects of all those interventions on the
baby rather than themselves. This pushing of the  "Gold Standard" of
pain relief drives me crazy. It is an undermining of the power of women
and has many side effects on the baby that are poo-poo'd. We wouldn't
have near so much trouble nursing our babies if we were given confidence
in the birth experience, rather than being told you can't do it without
a crutch.
