Dear Lactnetters:
I am working with a mother that has just had her baby removed from her by
child protective services. The infant has a broken forearm. The mystery is
did the Boyfriend (ex gang member, not the biological father, or did the son
ADD/oppositional disorder do it??) The infant has a hx of ABM
intoloreance/reflux including a hospitalization, and CPS is willing to pay for
the rental of the M-breastpump and kit while she is separated from her baby.
Her first court hearing is on Jan 4. Meanwhile, the foster family is willing
to receive breastmilk(yea) So far she has not been able to visit her infant,
and if she does she is not allowed to BF, The mother is looking for resources
or other cases to present to the judge on Jan 4 to support her right to BF at
least for supervised visitations. Does anyone have any documented cases, or
reports beyond what I can find in Auerbach, LLL answer book, or Lawrence,
thank you
Karen Querna
