Great Teresa! What you describe is exactly how I usually work with
relatives who are more or less supportive. It often gives me a lot of
insight into this family and assistance in helping mom and relatives
network into a productive and mutually satisfying relationship. We do
have to modify our relationship with our mother and our mother-in-law
during pregnancy and early postpartum. This is what helps us step into
our new role of being a mother and deciding for ourself and our new
dependent. I found that very often grandmothers feel incompetent in
helping their daughter or daughter-in-law breastfeeding if they did not
do it themselves. I guess it challenges them in their new role as a
grandmother...
