Even tho I worked very little while nursing the young ones, I too
worried how they would be fed in my absence (about 5 hrs). At 4.5 mos,
my dtr would not take a bottle and so grandma mixed a gruel of rice
cereal and mostly ebm and spoon fed. Earlier than I wanted to start
solids but since it was very occasional, it was ok, it worked. Also used
a regular toddler sippee cup to give ebm. Lots of options - just
brainstorm. Bottles not the only option, as has been said before. What
we have to realize, esp. here in the U.S. with our bottlefeeding culture
very entrenched, is that the caregivers (like grandparents or daycare
providers) are usually only willing to use a bottle. That is more of the
problem, I think. Don't think you would find many willing to spoonfeed
the ebm to the baby.
