My mother-in-law breastfed four of her five sons for a year each. The
one she weaned at a month she did so on the advice of her Dr. (in the
mid 1940's) because the Dr. told her that her worrying about her husband
who was away at WWII caused her milk to dry up and her baby would
starve. To this day, my MIL is convinced that NOT breatfeeding that son
is why he is the only of the five boys who is gay.

Needless to say, she is very supportive of breastfeeding mothers. I
think she considers my four year old son's occasional nursing a good
sign.
