Ann,
<< orning not to ever nurse again, and make the baby drink the
predigested formula. Parents have been trying to comply, baby is on ivs,
getting cortisone, and they are forcing him to drink the predigested
formula, which he mainly spits out. Within a few m inutes of drinking it,
he has bloody diarrhea again. >>
Predigested formula is still formula, and it still has a cow's milk base. If
this baby did fine for 4 months, where on earth do these MDs get off saying he
is allergic to mom's milk? Especially since he has bloody diarrhea from the
formula. IMNSHO, I'd sign out AMA, and do nothing but breastfeed this baby --
no solids, no nothing. Betcha that would clear the diarrhea. Then they could
start putting solids back in the diet, very slowly -- starting with maybe just
rice, etc.
This family needs new docs. Pronto.
ARGHHHHHH!!!
