I find that teens, in general, feel very self conscious about their breasts,
feel self conscious about exposing their breasts and sometimes think that
milk production is "gross."
The best way to counter some of the cultural mind/body warping the are
experiencing is through peer support.
I believe that teens are more like to breastfeed if they have peer role
models, hip popular role models, see other teens breastfeed and leaarn about
the advantages of breastfeeding for themselves and their babies from their
peers.
Of course some teens are earthmothers from the get go and know that bf is
the way to go. I've worked with some young homebirthers who are the salt of
the earth and most natural baby havers and keepers imaginable.
