There is an article on colic in the Oct. American Baby magazine.  Many
suggestions are the same as we have discussed.  However, it also
suggests that if nothing else works, you put the baby to bed alone for
increasing periods of time until he learns to comfort himself.  Also
quotes a pediatrician as saying, "Try to remember that baby's not really
hurting."  (Now how do you suppose she knows whether or not your baby is
hurting?!)

One suggestion I don't think anyone mentioned was for friends and family
to give mom a break at least once a day by comforting the baby for her
while she does something relaxing.
