Has anyone read the full article "Trial on Timing of Introduction to
Solids...." in this weeks Pediatrics.
<www/pediatrics.org/cgi/content/abstract/102/3/569> I can only access
the
abstract. Does the full article mention breastfeeding at all? I note it
is funded by Gerber. The abstract states in its conclusion: "The early
introduction of solid foods to an infant's diet does not alter growth or
body composition during the first year of life and results in a
displacement of energy intake from formula." Hmmm...
It does remind me of the research (by Hartmann?) on the degree
to which
infants control intake. I am also interested in the reverse
conclusion...does a delay in starting solids (say at 9mos) have the same
results?
