Hellow Lacnuts,
When faced with the following response, what do you say?
"I think breatfeeding is great, but don't feel bad if it doesn't work out for
you. Formulas are really great now too, the one great advantage with bottle
feeding is, that you know exactly how much your baby is getting, and you can be
sure that they are getting the right amount of everything. "
This is from a mother whose baby was born at 33 weeks, she pumped and fed her,
then tried to nurse her and the baby "burned to many calories b/c she had to
work harder", then she pumped and then fed it to her. She did this for almost
three months and then she says her baby developed a pretty severe milk AND
corn allergy. The mom says "which meant anytime I ate ANYTHING that had milk
OR any corn solids (corn syrup, vegetable oil etc.) she would throw up pretty
badly, so I had to stop nursing her and they put her on a hypo-allergenic
formula called Alimentum." Apparently her baby was then switched to soy
formula at 8 months and her corn allergy went away but not her milk allergy.
Friends, what I'm trying to find out here is how or what your resonse would be
in a situation like the one above. I don't seem to be good at quick responses
and I am hoping to increase my skills by hearing/reading a wide variety of
responses. So give it a try!
See ya,
Yvonne
