i wrote this and then read the letter from laura about the same problem with
an hcp in the hospital. but the same response applies. we have the
information, it is the ammunition. use it! and be nice about it. only jack can
express pejorative remarks in the direction of the unwashed/uninformed you-
know-who's. smile and be nice and just think your thoughts really loudly in
their direction.

dear cyndi and everyone,

if a mother wants to know from me what to do about bf and jaundice, i would
give her what i feel to be correct information, even if it contradicts what
the hcp says. how could we do otherwise? i would not try to then "sneak" the
information to the hcp, nor reprint comments from people on lactnet, but
simply fax or mail a report to this doctor about your meeting with this
patient, including up to date references from recognizable sources - try the
BAB or riordan and auerbach. don't apologize for the truth. at the conference
marianne neifert said "speak the truth with love," so spread the wisdom
around, don't collude with the ill-informed. be nice but be right. and save
your rants for us.
