My hospital is not a Baby-Friendly Hospital, so formula diaper bags are
given to all new mothers.
Because I know they will be given out, I had the bad fortune of removing
the formula from the breastfeeding bags, a day before the formula rep came
by.  He noticed that there was no formula in the bags and went ballistic.
He didn't say anything to me, but I heard from another staff nurse he was
upset.  I really didn't care what he thought. A day or two later, my head
nurse stated that I was not permitted to remove the formula from the
discharge packs because the hospital has a contract with the the formula
company and that what I did was going against the "contract".
Since the formula company is not abiding by the marketing code, how can I
be going against any contract.
Could someone give me some insite on this situation?
