dear jay and all,

my theory about being resistant to yeast is that some of us are naturally
acidic and the yeast has a hard time getting a foothold. i don't think that
means when it does get started, it can't turn into a horrible case. a long
time back i read somewhere that generally acidic people tend to have boy
babies. anecdotally, i knew a woman, like me, who seemed impervious to yeast
stuff, and we have five boys between us. i have had only one case of thrush
that i can remember in my life, and it is unrelated to the many years i have
been lactating, and it followed antibiotics and some skin abrasion. so maybe
the ones who get it the most are more alkaline normally.

the good news on the GV front, while we are discussing it so much, is that
upon my extreme urging ("the doctor checked the baby's mouth and said it
wasn't thrush") one of my email clients (the one i have tried so hard to hand
off to someone local) has just reported the GV has provided the miracle cure
and she is nursing pain free for the first time and the baby is five weeks
old. yeah!
