Pam,
However, when I had my physical this year, my doctor
asked me whether I had had a mammogram. I told her I had
not but I was still nursing. Her answer was that they
don't like to do mammograms on nursing mothers unless there
is a specific reason to do so because they are so hard to
read. She would never do a baseline mammogram on a nursing
mother because they are useless for that purpose. Does this
Mom have specific reason to believe that she has cancer or
precancerous growths. If not, she should probably wait to have
the screening done. If she does, I know of someone in Rhode Island
who has worked with breastfeeding women and mammograms, biopsies etc.
If it would be helpful I can get her name.
