We have had some problem in our area, too, with docs using combination birth
control pills to treat "oversupply". The American College of Ob/Gyn does make
a statement that BCP's may decrease supply, so bf patients should be cautioned
about this if they want to use BCP's for contraception. Unfortunately, some
docs have taken this to mean that they can use them for oversupply. What
often happens is that the milk supply nearly dries up. Therefore, I feel bf
patients should not be given combination BCP's. There are too many other good
methods out there....V. Nichols-Johnson, MD - Ob/Gyn
