More good news!
I had a call the other day from a mom whose 1 week old baby took about 30
minutes to latch on before each feed, but then would nurse well. As you
can imagine, mom was quite upset trying to deal with the situation. The
baby would keep thrusting her tongue pushing the breast out of her mouth.

My wonderful APL (who is leaving and will be missed greatly) suggested
having mom hold baby in colic hold and let baby suck on mom's finger for
a few minutes prior to feeding. Then turn baby over to nurse at the
breast. I gave this info to the mom. She called me back within 30
minutes to tell me baby just finished the feeding! Mom was elated and so
was I. I love it when this happens!

Aloha,
