Someone posted frustration when a doctor refers a mother to the LC but
could just as easily have managed the situation in the office had there
been a knowledgeable person to do so. That may be. HOWEVER, recieving a
referral from an MD (personally) makes my day. This indicates that the MD
knows someone else can help the mother. I prefer to think of my reports
BACK to the MD are my way of educating the MD so that future clients may
not be referred but will be helped right there in the office.
If that doesn't happen and the referrals continue to come to me, ok. At
least SOMEONE is helping the mother to have a happier breastfeeding
experience....
Let's not knock referrals. They make my day!
