I agree with all of you whole heartedly - that mom's shouldn't get this
for 4-6 weeks. However, I have to deal with physicians who believe that
our moms won't come back in 4-6 weeks or will come back pregnant. Even
the depo rep told them at OB grand rounds recently that Depo given too
early will compromise a milk supply but they still do it. Luckily one of
our OBs refuses to give it to his private patients this way and maybe
that will catch on. Sadly tho, I have heard from 2 moms this week who
have gotten the shot at 4 and 6 weeks respectively whose supply has gone
down drastically. One is pumping for preterm twins and was on Reglan to
increase her milk supply. I guess she didn't think to tell the OB she
was trying to increase her milk.....ARRGHH.
