Dear Gail - We had a pediatrician (very pro-breastfeeding) whose baby
had
the same problem and was put on Cisapride, did well. This baby may have
more than just a reflux, therefore the upper GI will help discern the
problem and whether or not baby needs to be on cisapride. For the time
being, he could feed 5 minutes, rest, burp, 5 minutes, rest, burp till
baby's feeding is over, and keep head of bed propped up. That is my
experience with those babies, so I don't know if that would apply here.
Good luck.
Esther Elmendorf, RN, MSN, LC, soon to be IBCLC by the grace of God and
hard studying.
