I would like to start off by saying thank you to all of you who have emailed
me and spoken to me privately about this jaundiced baby. This mother reports
today that baby gained 2 ounces on the MD's scale, yesterday, and that she
feels more milk and baby is nursing, peeing and pooping avidly. Still
slightly jaundiced, acc to Dad's report.

I think that they never got to the point of formula supplementation, and
that is fine, as long as the baby is growing well and gaining appropriately.

I breathed a bit of a sigh of relief today, as I heard this, ..and I want to
say that I did request that she use the pump 8 times a day, supplementing
baby until gain was good and intake appropriate...

Sometimes, people don't really *hear* what we say. That is why I ALWAYS
write down what I say to mothers, including the handouts I give, and in
cases where there is concern, such as this one, about the baby's wellness,
ability to thrive, etc, I FAXed a report to the physician's office, and
called to verify receipt of my fax. (not to mention that I am still fairly
fax impaired, and sent them 8 copies.) : / At least they GOT it.

Concern registered.

Thanks offered to you all.
