I have a list of excellent informational links about the Ezzos and their
programs.
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/3246/node6.html
There are a wide variety of articles, references, links to Growing Families
International (Ezzo's organization), and even biblical information. I have
found these resources very enlightening, although I can only take a little
bit at a time. I have not tested the links in awhile, though, so I
apologize in advance if some are no longer available.
I agree that an Internet search of the word "Ezzo" might yield good results
as well. Furthermore, I encourage any LLLLs out there to seek educational
information from LLL resources such as LEAVEN and your PL Dept.
I visited the www.amazon.com online bookstore and added a review about the
Ezzo books as well. You may be interested in reaching new parents in this
way if you have read the books.
One last very, very important point....please, let us not forget that these
materials are *not* just in the Christian community. _On Becoming Babywise_
is a secular book and I have had non-Christian friends using this book.
I wish strength to everyone facing the challenge of working with children
suffering from this parenting method. I myself once had to report a mother
to the authorities who had a baby that was 17oz below birth weight at 5 1/5
weeks old. It was on a military base and I told the Family Advocacy Nurse
Specialist that the mother was not following my recommendations...the
Pediatrician in this case was actually trying to remain supportive of the
breastfeeding relationship and was allowing great latitude because the
mother told him she was in touch with me. I honestly was thrilled to hear
he stepped in and switched the baby to formula--at least he was being FED.
It remains the most difficult moment I've experienced in 8 years of helping
mothers breastfeed.
Please learn more about this program so that you'll know how to respond when
you are confronted with it.
