I loved Joy Berry-Parks's response to the question about a 6 month old
baby girl who weighed 28 lbs.  She's absolutely right.  It is a non-issue.
Yes, the baby is big but there certainly is no intervention necessary.  An
exclusively breastfed infant is in total control of calorie intake and that's
the way it should be (unless of course they are failure to thrive).

When we see obese infants in our nutrition clinic we look at many things,
including the parent's size and shape, the infant's birth weight, muscle
tone, activity and supplements/solids.  Juice is a major problem in many
obese infants and toddlers.

It may be reassuring to the mother to know that while childhood obesity
is associated with adult obesity and chronic disease, infant obesity is
not.
