Sorry to post without the reference, but there is evidence to suggest
increased risk of eczema from early solid introduction.  Early as in
before 6 mos.

I mention the mess of eating and the smelly diapers to women who
contemplate early solids.  :-)

In the San Jose Mercury News last Sunday in the coupon supplement
there is a full page ad for Nestle' Carnation "Premium" Rice Cereal
for babies.  Contains all the ingredients of *Formula* it says on the
can.  The can is identical to formula cans.  Seems to me to be a
clever ad for formula as it has been demonstrated that many parents
dont' know the brand of formula they (or others) use, but they
recognise the packaging.  (Yes, even literate, educated parents.)
